This is Day 16 of a month of blogs designed to change our thinking! One of the ways we change our thinking is to simply realize we are Kingdom people. As such, we are in the world but not of it; we are merely passing through and our citizenship is in the Kingdom of God. When we are facing trials in this world it is critical that we remember who we are because our source isn’t here – in this worlds economy – but in our King, Jesus.
Miracles are not really miracles. Miracles are works or occurrences that appear supernatural in this world. However, in reality, they are the norm in the Kingdom of God. When miracles occur here in this world, it is because God’s divine order has been restored to the situation at hand and the Kingdom reality has been enforced in this world. That’s what Kingdom living is. That’s what an ambassador of the Kingdom of God is supposed to do – bring Kingdom reality into the physical realm of this world. Establishing the Kingdom and extending our King’s rule and reign is our job on earth.
There has been a lot of talk about Wall Street vs. Main Street in the recent months. The discussion usually centers on how Main Street is suffering while Wall Street gets bailouts from the U.S. Government. While we should be concerned about Main Street in the sense that we are ambassadors to this earth, we should not be concerned about our supply because we are sourced from another government – the Kingdom of God. Remember, our job is to bring the natural aspects of the Kingdom of God into this world. The result is often something that looks to be supernatural or miraculous.
In my recent blog on “Day 14 – Feed Your Fatih”, I told the story of a friend who needed a “miracle” because he was being evicted and had no place to go. After some time in the Word and prayer, I declared his need to be met. And within moments the answer was given. Kingdom reality was brought into this realm. Today, I have another such “miracle” to report.
A family I know of recently experienced the grace and provision of God’s Kingdom when the husband and father of the family had landed a job after over a month of being unemployed. This man works in a highly competitive field and currently the market for his skills is greatly reduced due to our nations economic decline.
He learned of a position being offered in his field of expertise as he browsed through help wanted ads on Craig’s List. When he made application he found that over 2,000 others had also made their own bids for this one position. The owner of the company planned to narrow his search to 150 qualified applicants, then to 5 and finally to one. At each cut prayer went forth and declarations were made to bring Kingdom reality into this realm on behalf of this follower of Jesus. Our Brother in Christ made it to the final interview and asked for more prayer. He believed this job was God-designed for him and he didn’t want to lose it through neglect or presumption.
The owner of the company made his final interviews with the final applicants on Friday. He told each of them that he would make his decision by Sunday. He said he would call the applicant of his choice and if the applicant did not receive that call, then he/she would know they had not been chosen. The newly hired person would be expected to begin work on Monday morning.
It was after 10:00 p.m. on Sunday night and no call had come in to our Brother. Yet, no one despaired or gave up. We continued to believe the job was his and that the Kingdom reality we had declared was yet to be manifested. Slightly after 11:00 p.m. the call came and our Brother began working for this company on Monday morning.
Perhaps now is the time to call Kingdom realities into your life. Making proper declarations and taking authority in a situation can seem presumptuous and the enemy of our souls will be glad to tell us we are out of bounds. But remember who we are. All authority in heaven and earth has been given to our King – and He gives it to us. The Epistle of James tells us we “have not because you (we) ask not.” (James 4:2) The word “ask” means to place a demand for something due. We could then read James 4:2 in this paraphrase: You have not because you didn’t make a demand for something even though it was due you. It’s time to change and bring some “miracles” to Main Street.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, in Jesus name, I thank You for all You have given me and I repent for failing to recognize just how much You really have given me. I have the authority to call in and demand those things that I need. I often become intimidated by the enemy of my soul and fail to make the demands and declarations I should make. Therefore, I repent. And starting today, I acknowledge that I am a Kingdom person whose purpose it is to call Kingdom realities into this realm and to establish and extend the Kingdom of God. Therefore, I will make those decrees, declarations and demands that are in alignment with my mission and my destiny.
Wow! We met with David K on Saturday and he was talking to us about demanding too. No more asking God to do stuff for us, but expecting it to happen when we demand it because He already gave it to us, we just need to aggressively grab hold of it now. Another great and timely word, Wes.
